What does a Success Coach do?

Being a Success Coach is an incredible way to share your experiences with incoming students.  You must be a successful student yourself and be able and willing to share the wisdom you have gained so far.  The role involves a six to eight-week program in which Success Coaches meet with 10 to 12 students one time each week. The meetings consists of discussions and activities relating to topics that will help freshmen and transfer students through their first semester at OSU.  Such topics include time management, study techniques, job search, and healthy living.  Written reports are required each week and should include a plan for the following week.  Potential coaches should plan on attending the mandatory training session prior to the start of school.  This is an excellent way to share the tips, tricks, and fumbles that you have picked up along the way.

Your Commitment

  • Time: 8 weeks at the beginning of the semester
  • Attend the mandatory training session plus follow-up meetings as scheduled
  • Plan and execute 6 to 7 weekly meetings with your team
  • Coordinate your meeting plans with the class instructor
  • Meet regularly and work under the supervision of a Success Coach Leader
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of planning sessions, meetings and attendance

Payment
Success Coaches will be paid $300 upon completion of their commitment.
